01 / A considered approach

Great events deserve more than a generic rental quote.

A PA rental or corporate AV package is a starting point, not a plan. When the guest experience matters, sound is the detail people feel most, and the one they remember if it falls short. Planners who care about quality still run into the same problems:

  • Systems sized for price, not for the room. A standard package can look fine on paper and still leave the back of the room straining or the dinner conversation buried.
  • Quotes you can't compare. Every vendor says they're the best, and proposals rarely line up item for item.
  • No one technical on your side. The vendor's crew works for the vendor. When priorities differ on show day, someone should be speaking for you.

Snake Audio is that advocate: a working systems engineer who represents the client, not the warehouse.

How it works

  1. Consultation. We talk through the event, the venue, the program and the experience you want guests to have.
  2. Specify the system your event deserves. We design the audio around your room and your show: coverage, clarity, playback, microphones and any special moments.
  3. Source from vendors who can deliver it. We bring the specification to trusted, high-caliber production and sound system rental companies in Los Angeles, review their proposals with you, and recommend the right fit.
  4. Optional onsite lead engineer. Jacob can work the show as your lead audio engineer or as your advocate alongside the vendor's crew, so the sound on the day matches the plan.

03 / Designed around your event

Sound designed for the events that matter

Corporate shows & brand moments

Keynotes, product launches, galas and brand activations where every word needs to land and the sound reflects the brand. We coordinate with your venue, producers and AV team.

Luxury weddings & private events

Vows every guest can hear, toasts without feedback, and music that fills the room without overpowering dinner. Designed for the venue and the evening you have in mind.

Concerts & performances

Line arrays, monitors and front-of-house mixing for artists and audiences that expect a polished sound. We specify the system and find the production company to deliver it.

Onsite lead engineering

A technical expert in your corner during the event: system tuning, show-day problem-solving and clear communication with the venue and vendor crew.

Service area: Los Angeles County, with a focus on the South Bay and Beach Cities (including Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance and the Palos Verdes area).

Meet Jacob Moore, your audio consultant

Jacob Moore is a freelance L-Acoustics systems engineer based in the South Bay, with 15 years in live audio, 11 of them on L-Acoustics systems, and freelance since 2018. He completed L-Acoustics design, optimization and K Series training in 2016. He engineers major corporate shows and tours, so he knows what an excellent show sounds like from the inside and what to ask vendors before you commit.

Snake Audio owns no gear. There is no warehouse to empty and no package to push, so every recommendation is about what will sound best for your event.

Frequently asked questions

What is Snake Audio?

Snake Audio is an independent event audio consultant in Los Angeles and the South Bay, led by systems engineer Jacob Moore. It designs the sound for corporate shows, luxury weddings, private events and concerts, sources the sound system rental and corporate AV from vendors that can deliver at that level, and can provide a lead audio engineer onsite. It does not own equipment.

What does an event audio consultant do?

An event audio consultant works for the client, not the rental company. Snake Audio specifies the system your event needs, gets proposals from production companies that can deliver it, helps you compare them line by line, and stays involved through show day, either as your lead engineer or as your advocate alongside the vendor's crew.

Do I need an audio consultant or just a rental company?

If your event is small, simple and in a venue with good house sound, a reputable rental company is often enough. A consultant earns their fee when the room is difficult (outdoor, ballroom, a long room, a tent), when the program is complex (live band, panels, streaming, award shows), when quotes don't line up, or when the stakes are high enough that you want an engineer on your side on show day.

What should I ask a sound company before I book?

Ask (1) which speaker system and how many boxes, and why that system for this room, (2) who the A1 engineer is and what they've mixed, (3) what's included for wireless mics and backups, (4) load-in, sound-check and strike times, (5) what overtime costs, and (6) whether they'll provide a coverage plot or prediction. If a quote can't answer these, it isn't comparable yet.

How does Snake Audio charge for consulting?

Consulting is a flat fee, starting at $1,000 per event, and a site survey is $300 within 30 miles of the South Bay. Onsite engineering is quoted and billed separately. If a vendor ever offers a referral fee, it is disclosed to you in writing before you book.

How much does high-end event sound cost in Los Angeles?

Typical Los Angeles ranges for audio from a production company (equipment, crew and delivery):

  • Wedding, about 150 guests: roughly $700–$2,500
  • Large private party, 500–1,000 guests: $2,500–$4,000 with a line array (ground-stacked); $4,000–$18,000+ with a flown system
  • Corporate general session, 150–350 attendees: typically $10,000–$50,000; smaller sessions can start around $7,500

Your venue, program and crew set where you land. After a consultation you receive itemized vendor proposals for your specific event. Snake Audio's consulting fee is separate, from $1,000 per event.

What types of events do you work on?

Corporate shows and brand moments, luxury weddings and private events, and concerts and performances across Los Angeles County, with a focus on the South Bay. Onsite engineering is available for each.

Do you work in the South Bay?

Yes. Jacob is based in the South Bay, and events in Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance, El Segundo and the Palos Verdes area are a core focus.

Can you provide an L-Acoustics engineer in Los Angeles?

Yes. Jacob is a freelance L-Acoustics systems engineer with 11 years on L-Acoustics systems. Snake Audio does not own equipment, so for events that call for L-Acoustics it sources the system from production companies that carry it, and Jacob can engineer it onsite.

Can Jacob engineer my event himself?

Yes, subject to availability. Onsite engineering is a separate service from consulting and is quoted separately.

Do you work with event planners?

Yes. Planners can bring Snake Audio in as their audio specialist to specify the system, vet vendors and represent the event on show day, so the planner has one technical point of contact.

Do you disclose how you're compensated?

Yes, always, in writing before you book. See the "How Snake Audio gets paid" section above.
